Synopsis

Two men.
One woman.
During one of the darkest moments in Allison’s life, she met two men. She loved them both, but not equally. One made her feel alive when she was so close to feeling dead inside. The other made her feel safe, protecting her against the world.
One took her heart, and then vanished.
The other settled for her friendship, but never stopped loving her.
Two hearts.
One choice.
The rocker who became her rock.
Or the flame who's burned her more than once.
One she can’t live with.
The other she can't live without.
What do you do when the one who broke you is the only one who can fix you? And the one who has always been there, hiding in the shadows for his chance, is now taking center stage?

In the wake of the collapse of her father’s business empire, Flor, the gorgeous twenty-one year-old daughter of disgraced former Brazillionaire Gustavo de Lima, is forced to forge her own path in life. Flor decides that none of it—the private jets, the vacation homes and the luxury cars—were real. Or at least they really didn’t matter. The only thing that’s real for Flor is her love of horses and her desire to go to veterinary school. Heading into her final year of college, Flor seeks out the help of an unlikely benefactor to secure a summer internship working with horses. Arriving at the secluded Belo Horizonte ranch, Flor is awed not only by the majestic beauty of the place, but also by handsome cowboy and skilled horse trainer, Collin Taylor. Yet nothing is quite as it appears on the surface. When the hidden past is revealed, will love end up blossoming for Flor?

Excerpt

Flor throws herself into work the next week, trying her best to forget about that touch. She does what she can to keep Paco and his inviting eyes at arms’ length as well. What for? She chides herself. In case Collin accepts her invitation for coffee? Even she has to laugh at that. But what then? It’s only ten weeks until she leaves for Smith.

Ten weeks isn’t a lot of time, but when you’re young, it’s certainly long enough to try to get to know someone.

“Are you interested in coming over tonight?” Paco asks Flor as she helps him sort out semen samples in the lab. She closes the door to the small fridge and smiles.

“To watch a movie?” He chuckles and removes his gloves.

Leaning toward her he says, “I was thinking along the lines of wine and music. But if you prefer a movie . . . .” Flor shakes her head.

“No to the movie?” Paco asks, running his hands through his thick hair. Flor watches, mesmerized by his smooth manner.

“I don’t get it, Flor. One moment, I think you’d like to get to know me, then the next, you act like you don’t.”

He steps toward her. She remains frozen, his gaze holding her in place, her eyes watching his gorgeous lips move. What did he just say?

“Usually I can tell when a woman is attracted to me, but you, I get mixed signals.” He reaches out and runs a finger along the back of her hand. Nope, not even a flicker of electricity. Flor looks down and doesn’t answer. But still she’s extremely attracted to him. Her panties are wet, and it’s a struggle to control her breathing. The Argentinian draws his long finger up to her chin.

“You are incredibly beautiful, Flor,” he whispers. His face inches closer to hers, his blue/gray eyes searching hers.

He wants permission and a part of her is screaming to give it as much as it’s screaming for her to leave. She closes her eyes and parts her lips, knowing it won’t feel right. She wants him to realize it too. Paco’s lips are as soft as she imagined them to be. He reaches his hand around her neck and pulls her body to him, his tongue entering and searching for more.

It feels better than Flor even imagined when she lay awake touching herself, picturing him covering her body with his mouth and tongue.

All of a sudden she’s on fire. Flor reaches up, her hands on either side of his face. Their kiss deepens as his hands begin to roam, slowly unleashing the desire she’s felt since she first laid eyes on him.

The kiss feels incredible. He’s truly an expert at reading a woman. His tongue traces her lips before biting down softly on her bottom lip. The sensation travels straight down to her sex, pulsing with need. That’s what this is now. Pure, unadulterated need. He sparked it in her, and now he’s stoking the fire with every touch, every kiss. As Paco’s lips travel down her neck, she catches their reflection in the window. The image of them together with her in his arms, makes her stop. She wrenches herself out of his embrace.

“I’ve got to go,” she whispers. Before Paco has a chance to respond, she’s already out the door.

When Flor nears the house, she stops and leans against a large magnolia tree, slides down the trunk, and hugs her knees to her chest. Flor tries to push the image of her and Paco out of her head.

He’s not the one she wants.

It’s Collin.

Why these men and why now? She laments.

In the few short weeks she’s been here, she’s allowed herself to be consumed by longing for one and being pursued by another. Is this karma? Flor wonders.

The moment she determines she doesn’t want to fall in love or become entangled in anything the universe puts not one, but two desirable men in her path. Although one doesn’t seem to want her back. Flor stands slowly, watching bees flit from flower to flower on the low hanging branches.

No one thing or person is worth the energy at this point, she resolves.

She’ll do as she pleases and let the chips fall where they may.

THE PHOENIX by Addison Klines **COVER REVEAL**

Title : The Phoenix
Author: Addison Kline
Genre : Romance

It is often said that you never forget your first love.

Alanna Anderson isn't interested in remembering, though. She wishes she could forget all the memories that plague her heart. The good times. The bad times. But most of all, she wishes that she could wipe her mind clean of Cris's face. Cris Serrano was Alanna's first love. He was one of Alanna's best friends, and a person that would forever change her life. Growing up in inner city Philadelphia, when times got tough, they banded together until the unevitable happened. Life ripped them apart.

Cristobal Serrano doesn't take no for an answer. When he asked the love of his life and high school sweetheart to spend forever with him, he never expected life to deliver him a swift rejection. Alanna was long a girl that Cris had admired as well as loved. Though she looked innocent, Alanna was as strong as they came, facing odds that would have broken down most men. Alanna, in Cris's eyes, was a phoenix. She was someone who could rise from the ashes of a broken life, and come out even more courageous and beautiful than before. But when life delivers a cruel one-two punch to Alanna, will Cris's songbird learn to sing again?

This is much more than a love story. The Phoenix is a coming of age tale of a group of teenagers reaching the echelon of adulthood and having to face the consequences of their decisions, and the actions of those around them. The Phoenix is an emotional journey that segways from the early pangs of young love to a tremendous love affair wrought with loyalty, beauty and tragedy.

I should have resisted him, but I couldn’t. My addiction to him was all-consuming, the high from his touch unlike any other.
Without him, I couldn’t focus, couldn’t think, couldn’t breathe.
With him, I hated myself for being too weak to fight the devil himself.
And Tyler Burnham was the devil.
He used me.
He lied to me.
But he loved me. And he still does.

Unable to stop thinking about the man who deceived her, Mackenzie Delano struggles to move on with her life and forget that Tyler Burnham ever walked into her life. But she still aches for him, despite his betrayal. Her mind is at war with her heart, a war that could be the difference between living and dying.

Tyler Burnham is lost without Mackenzie. As he contemplates the meaning of everything, he tries to find a way to prove that his feelings for her are true. That he would walk through fire to keep her at his side. That he would sacrifice it all…his career, his fortune, his life…to protect her.

Excerpt

“Wait, Mackenzie!” Tyler cried out after me. “Tell me what you want me to say and I’ll say it! Letting you walk away from me once was the biggest mistake of my life. I won't do it again.”

I spun around just as I was about to open the front door. “You let me walk away from you?” I hissed, my teeth clenched.

“That’s not what I meant.” He ran his hands through his dark brown hair and I could see the desperation wash over him. “What I meant to say is all the lies, all of it… I’m so sorry I put you through it. But do you think I regret any of it?” His eyes grew more intense and impassioned, his chest heaving as he poured his heart out to me. “Not for a second.”

I glared at him, waiting for him to explain.

“If it wasn’t for all the lies, for my assignment, I never would have met you, so I’m not going to say I regret a fucking second of any of it. I don’t care what it takes to win back your heart. You can push me away all you want. You can tell me you’ll never forgive me, that there will never be an us again, but I will always come back for you. A hundred times. A thousand times. I will fight for us until I take my last breath.”

He stepped toward me, grabbing my hand in his, caressing my knuckles in such a delicate way that made me want to melt into a puddle.

“Please, Mackenzie…” He leaned toward me, brushing his lips against my forehead, kissing me so delicately, so lightly. “Serafina,” he whispered, “tell me what it will take and I’ll do it.”

Despite everything he had just said, I simply couldn’t let him back in. Relationships were based on trust, and Tyler took my trust and used it against me. I couldn’t forget that, no matter how much my skin yearned for his touch.

“You want to know what it’s going to take?” I asked softly, freeing my hand from his grasp.

He nodded, nervous anticipation radiating through his body as he looked at me with eager eyes.

“It’ll take one more time,” I murmured, opening the door. Peering over my shoulder, I saw his deflated expression. “It will always take one more time.”

I used to watch her through the lights. I watched as her body turned and twisted as she morphed into my siren.
I wanted her—I craved every ounce of Ryleigh Turner. But I knew once I had her, all I would do was corrupt every inch of her pretty little soul.
Valentinos aren't made for tales of love. We star in the horror stories you fear.
We're the monsters that make you scared to ever hope again.
It's time that she realises that.
****
He's watched me for months, given me every reason to allow my curiosity to start killing me slowly.
He makes the world melt away; he makes me want to throw all my inhibitions away and greet him personally. But every time the music ends and the lights lift, he vanishes, crushing my hopes.
Until one day, a moment of chance happens.
How does a man like Dante Valentino cope with a woman as messed up as me?
Easy.
I let him have every inch of my tainted soul.

Not all love stories have a beautiful start.
Some just need a perfect trigger.
**This is a dark romance with intense scenes of murder and sex. There is coarse language used throughout. Not for the faint hearted.

review

 Bloody great, addictive, sinfully good!

5/5

Wow. That was one intense and addictive read. Jesus.

Where the hell do I begin!! Without spoiling anything, and that's hard to do because I'm head over heels in love with this story, I'm just going to say that if you're looking an easy but dark, sexy but heartfelt, funny but soulful and above all, brilliantly well constructed characters? Look no more than TRIGGER.

It had every element that will make you fall for it from the first few pages.

Easy flowing writing.

Alpha male.

Sexiness.

Backstory that will make your heart skip a beat.

And so much soul and darkness that by the end, you'd feel as if you have just ran a marathon.

Ryleigh and Dante has a damn HOT chemistry between them! I mean, every single time they are either thrown in a situation together or so much as have that narrative of thinking about one another, I always consider needing a fan. Seriously. And it doesn't help that Dante's dirty and sweet talking mouth will make any sane girl to become messed up in every sinful way..

The story also has that mystery element to it that I adored. It was done in a subtle but yet right there in your face sort of way? I mean, mments where mystery was needed in a full on effect, the author executed so well that at times I wonder how I didn't pick up on it. But other times, it was right there teasing you because no matter how much you thought you knew what would happen next, what Ryleigh will do to piss off Dante even more or how much Dante wanted to do things that would other wise be called "illegal", you are most likely to have guessed wrong. *applauds*

Love it!!!

Cannot wait to get more of my The Pericolo Series fill.. and thank you so much to the author, Kirsty-Anne Still for providing an ARC. This review wont ever do justice to what you created, but I am forever grateful that I got the chance to read such a wonderful story. So, THANK YOU!

As I pull her against my body, swaying to the music, I gaze down at her, and now my breathing shallows. The voice that whispers to me is unknown, dipped in disguise, and doused in addictive tones. It whispers the seed of madness that consumes me - fall in love.
But as always, I decide to stop the thought from burrowing any fucking deeper.
“This is lust, not love, cara. It’s what has you so confused. Lust mimics love to trick a naïve heart.” I keep the conviction strong in my voice, forcing her to understand what it is I want. We may have had this conversation before, but it didn’t do much to heed her rapid emotions. “I’ve never felt lust like this, and I know I never will again, which is why I brought you here. I want tonight to end with you screaming my name. I want to claim you as mine and make you realize I don’t do love.”
“I know you don’t,” she replies, bitterness edges her words. “You don’t need to worry, Dante. I know why you want me here. I got the message loud and clear, but if you think you’re getting into my panties quite so soon, you can think again. My motives here aren’t sexual. That’s just an added bonus.” She narrows her gaze on me, the pupils shrinking as she calmly responds to me. “I think the other evening proved a lot to us. I allowed you to have my entire body, and while I loved the way you commanded me, I won’t give it to you so easily. You’ve had a taste of it, Dante. You can work for another round.”
“I don’t have to do anything,” I respond dryly, ire heating me. “I could have any girl I wanted. I don’t have to wait for you to put out.”
She takes a step back, breaking our connection.
“Go on then,” she tells me, her voice strong. “Go and have any girl willing to give it up to you as easy as I did.” She doesn’t come back to me. “I’m going to the bar, so you go and find a girl as willing as I am to adhere to your sadistic requests.”
I used to be just another Fanfiction writer! That was until one person showed real interest in my work. And then another, and then another, until I had this whole group of people reviewing like crazy and wanting original work from me. I’d spent years writing for free online, I didn’t believe I had it in me to publish something!
But I’m glad I did!! I never imagined pushing my work and striving to reach my ultimate. I never imagined I’d be the girl who started The Viper Rooms! But who am I to deny the inspiration when it hits?
I love writing, it’s a lifeline. I love creating a world that others fall into. I love having the control to make a whole new world. It’s like a dependency, an addictive one. It’s one of the things I’m extremely proud of.
As much as I complain, I love the mini dialogues that go on in my head, the plotlines that attack me when I least expect them to. The ones that jump to life at the most inappropriate times and drive me totally crazy!!
For now I split my life between writing, dreaming, working, and volunteering with children.
