THE BOXER by Piper Rayne **PROMOTION**

Title: The Boxer
Series: Modern Love #2
Author: Piper Rayne
Genre: Romantic Comedy
OUT NOW

Blurb

“Who knew a bad boy could mend a broken heart."

What does a girl do after she discovers her fiancé is a cheating bastard?

In my case, I performed the ritual implosion of all scorned women. I drowned my sorrows in cases of white wine, wallowed in gallons of ice cream, and ignited a bonfire to burn away every damn remnant of his existence. Six months later, the only result was a permanent impression of my ass on the couch.

Adventure Dating my friends dared.
A new and exciting opportunity they said.
I thought they were crazy, but I’m not one to back down from a challenge, so I signed up for the entire four-week deal.

That’s where I saw HIM. Lucas Cummings. He isn’t the classic rich boy I usually end up with. The one whose idea of working up a sweat is waiting for his margarita to be served on the beach. Nope. He’s a rough and tough bad boy that all fathers warn their daughters about. You know the type. Cocky swagger, chiseled jaw—the ‘V’.

SOLD, I said to myself, until I discovered he was so much more than just a BOXER.

Left Hook.

Right to the heart.

Excerpt

My mouth waters as the guy who propositioned me a half hour ago strips off his robe, revealing a set of abs I’m quite positive could wash the panties I just soaked. Jesus, he’s hot, with not one ounce of fat on him. His black silk shorts have a white band of fabric around his waist that says Raging Bull.

Lennon grabs my cup out of my hand.

“Hey,” I say, reaching for it.

“No, girl, you’re gonna want to be stone sober for this one. You don’t want to be like Whit the first night she and Cole got together.” She takes a sip, but I grab the cup back, knowing I need it more than I thought.

Especially when he glances down and a perfect set of sparkling teeth emerge, revealing a smile that has me gripping Lennon’s arm for support. Then he bites his bottom lip for a second, and my fingernails dig into Lennon’s bicep.

“Damn, I wish I saw him first.” Lennon’s voice sounds as dreamy as I feel. “You better ride him like you’re a fucking rodeo star, girl.” And there’s the Lennon I know and love.

The vodka man, now known as Lucas Cummings, turns around, continuing to bounce on his toes.

Sammie’s voice rings out once more, and another boxer enters with four bodyguards and a red silk robe. He weaves through the ropes and stares down Lucas. Lucas laughs, egging him on, and my gut twists.

“The undefeated Brock ‘Lights Out’ Hayes,” Sammie announces, and the guy jumps around the ring, waving both fists in the air.

Lucas turns back toward us, but his attention is focused solely on another guy. A small man rushes in the ring, putting Vaseline on his cheeks and forehead.

“This is the real deal.” The excitement in Lennon’s voice increases.

Lucas keeps peeking over at me, an uptick on his lips each time. Eventually, the guy who I assume is his manager glances over our way to see what’s distracting him.

Whit tugs on my arm and leans in close. “Someone has caught the boxer’s attention,” she whispers and I wish my cheeks didn’t heat like they are.

“Because he’s thinking of all the ways he’s going to fuck her later,” Lennon adds, turning her head for only a second.

“What?” Whitney asks, in the dark on the whole situation.

“I met him at the bar. He asked me to meet him after,” I say, and Whitney’s eyes crinkle as if she doesn’t think that’s a good idea. So thinks the girl who resorted to Tinder.

“Like you’d do that,” she says confidently, and I bite my lower lip. The lip that is now a little tingly from what I assume is the Everclear. “Tahlia, don’t you think you should wait for your second one-night stand for someone of his…caliber?”

Cole peeks over her shoulder. “I met him a few weeks ago when I came to watch the fights. Seems like an okay guy.”

Whitney raises her hand, and it smacks Cole in the face. He grabs his nose.

“Oh, I’m sorry.” She glances at him for a second before her eyes set on me again like a mother scolding her teenager.

“No, babe, it’s my fault. I know better than to try to get in the middle of a conversation between you three.” Cole touches his nose a few times and wiggles it around.

“Guess you’re not the kinda guy to jump in that ring then.” Lennon laughs and points at him. Cole raises his eyebrows in her direction.

“Are you challenging me, Lennon?” Cole asks and the three of us laugh.

Whitney waves her hands around. “Forget that. Tahlia, you can’t go have a one-night stand with someone like him.”

I look past Whitney to Cole. “I think you need to go over the one-night stand rules. First one being, you don’t know the person. Second qualification, you pick the hottest guy.”

Cole laughs, but Whitney only becomes more agitated. I’m not sure why she’s giving me trouble. She’s the one who brought me here tonight.

“Tahl,” she sighs.

“Whit,” I mimic her tone. “I’m a grown woman. I’ll be fine.”

Lennon elbows me a few times. “The blood is about to spew,” she says and jumps up, screaming, “Go, black shorts!”

Lucas turns around to Lennon and then cocks an eyebrow in her direction. For a second, jealousy spikes within me, but when his gaze turns to me and he smirks, I melt. Unable to deal with the thought that the guy up in the ring could be inside of me in a few hours, I tip the rest of my Everclear and down it.

REAWAKEN HIS HEART by KL Myers **RELEASE BLITZ**

Ebook
Title: Reawken His Heart
Author: KL Myers
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: November 21
Goodreads
Synopsis
Braedyn
I'm an asshole. I wasn't always this way; life has made me this way. I once believed in the good in all people, but then "life happened". I'm not religious; I don't believe in God. How can someone who created the world be so willing to take away life and all I believed in and loved?
I was young. I believed in love and forever. Brooklynn Marsden was my high school sweetheart. We grew up together in Phoenix and she became my wife. I loved life with her more than anything. Until it was over. Then I hated life and vowed I would never love a woman again.
Women became an outlet to release my pent-up frustrations. Wham bam thank you ma'am was the motto I lived for years.
Until Rylee.
Rylee
Men are pigs. You heard me. Pigs. They are selfish and only concerned with what benefits them both in life and in bed. I believed in Prince Charming like every other little girl. Cinderella, Snow White, and Rapunzel, they all got the knight in shining armor who saved them from their dreary little lives and made them the happiest girls on the face of the earth.
Those were stories written for little girls, making them believe that one day a man would sweep them off their feet and worship them. BULLSHIT!!! All I've found are the court jesters and a bunch of cheaters.
Gone is the carefree girl who dreamed of fairy tales and believed in soul mates. In her place is the woman who trusts no one.
Until Braedyn.

It’s been a week since that night I found her. Rylee, that is. I remember her name. I feel her in my arms. And I can’t seem to forget her face.
I’ve dreamt of her, naked and spread out on my bed while I fuck her so hard and fast my balls are slapping against her ass. Hot, pounding lust spirals through me, and my dick grows hard when I think of her.
It’s why every time I’m at the hospital, I check up on her. I was surprised to find that she was still there, and when I heard she was in a coma, I panicked. I don’t know what it is about her, but I’m obsessed when it comes to her. When I found out she blacked out after they got her in the ambulance and that she hadn’t regained consciousness, I started to have flashbacks of Brooklyn. All those old feelings started coming back to me. It was gut-wrenching. I needed to know she was OK, so every day, I’d stop by and check on her to see if she was awake.
Over the years, I became friends with most of the nursing staff. Well, only the single ones, and friends isn’t exactly the right term to describe my relationship with them. But nonetheless, they are always happy to see me and more than willing to answer my questions.
After a couple of days, I started to get worried. There was no reason my raven-haired beauty should be in a coma. Her head injuries were serious but not serious enough to cause her to be unresponsive. Her MRIs were clear as well. When I arrived, two nights ago, Betty told me she had regained consciousness earlier that day and that the doctor had given her a clean bill of health and would be releasing her soon if everything remained the same. Tonight, I’m here again, standing in the hallway by her room. Betty is asking me if I have the day off tomorrow and if I want to get something to eat when I see movement out of the corner of my eye. I turn to look into Rylee’s room and see her roll over to face the door. Her eyes open. They lock on with mine, and I smile at her. I can tell she is still sleepy, but those eyes of hers sucker-punch me in the gut the minute they meet mine. Fuck, what the fuck am I feeling for this girl? Why does she have this effect on me? I see her close her eyes again and know I have got to get out of there while I can. So I do the only thing I can think of, which is to leave. I run as fast as I can away from her.
I’m back at the station working out, trying to get some of the pent-up frustration out, when Scott comes over to stand next to the bench I’m lying on.
“So you want to tell me what has you freaked the fuck out, bro?” I just look at him
“No.” One word is all I’ve got for him, but that fucker can’t let it go.
“I know you stop by to see that girl every time we are at the hospital. You don’t think I see you disappear for a few minutes every time? I haven’t asked, because frankly, it’s none of my business, but today is different, so spill it, jackass. Tell me what’s eating you.”
I don’t answer just yet. I finish my last set before I place the bar back in its holder and rise.
“Not much to say,” I tell him. “I just wanted to make sure everything was OK with her, and that’s all there is to it.”
With and evil smirk, Scott says, “Bullshit, you have never once followed up on any patient you have treated at a scene.”
My eyes shoot directly to his. “What are you saying, Scott?”
“You didn’t even treat this girl. You found her and called for help, so what’s the deal? You’ve taken an interest in her. I’ve only seen that look of concern on your face once before, and that was when everything went down with Brooklyn, bro, so what is it about this girl that has you looking like your kitten just got hit by a car?”
“Fuck you, dude,” I snap. “I don’t have a kitten, and if it got hit by a car, it’d be road kill, and that would be the end of that.” I give him a shit-eating grin and stand up.
“Look, I just wanted to make sure she was OK, that’s all.” I turn to walk away, then hoping he’ll let it go, I add, “I stopped by today and saw Betty. She told me the girl is fine. She woke up a couple of days ago. They want to keep her for maybe two more days, but then they’ll discharge her. Is there anything else inquiring minds would like to know?” I flip him the middle finger and walk away.
“I’m leaving the station and head home. My thoughts are everywhere but where they should be, and I don’t even realize I’m at the hospital until I put the truck in park. Damn, it’s become second nature to me to head here. I stare out the window, waging a war within myself. My head is telling me to get the fuck home, while my heart is telling me to see her. Against my better judgment, my heart wins, and I head inside.
All the way up in the elevator, I keep second-guessing my decision. I know I shouldn’t be here and that this will only end badly for both of us. Hell, I don’t even know if she will remember who I am. I try to justify my presence by just introducing myself and telling her I was just checking up to make sure she was OK. I don’t need her to know I was there every day and that I have been watching her since she woke up, so I put on my game face and exit to her floor when the doors open.
When I get to her room, I knock on the door before I walk in. She’s watching TV, but her eyes break away from the screen to see who is entering her room. I watch a smile break across her face when she sees me. My fucking heart skips a beat at that moment, and I stumble a step. I make it to the chair by her bed and sit down.
“Do you remember who I am?” I ask her. She nods her head.
“Yes, I remember you. You are the man who pulled over to help me. Thank you very much.” My heart is beating hard in my chest.
“My name is Braedyn,” I tell her, and she smiles back at me.

REVIEW:

Best soulfully sexy book of the year!! <3

5/5

A gorgeous soulful and heartfelt story that had me so emotional, and that's saying something since I couldn't keep my emotions in check when reading Still Life.

Now, we get Todd's story.

The guy from Still Life that many might hate, especially with his view on who he takes to bed every week, but I actually kinda had a soft spot for him. In book one we get to see the beginnings of how he's story might be like.. And with STILL WATER? Jesus. Bloody. Hell. That is such a weird mush up of words but honestly, they explain my sanity as of this moment. I only finished STILL WATER a couple of minutes ago and I already want to re-read it. I just need more Todd damn it!!
Heartbreak.

Rough.

Raw.

Emotional.

Dark.

Steamy.

Hot.

Deep.

Romantic.

Truthful.

In STILL WATER we get a love story that breaks almost every rule when it comes to ruining your heart and basically making you look like an idiot as you grin but cry at the same time (uhmm let's not mention or look at those tubs of Ben&Jerries over there.. yeah). BUT it also follows every step in making sure that we inhale and exhale at the same time that the characters do so themselves. The development is so strong!! I got lost in the story..

I got lost in the sad and depressing back story of Lily and the tears that followed, were somehow wiped off by Todd and his drool worthy sexiness. I don't know how to explain it but with what Lily went through and what she is afraid to face now, trust being one of them, Todd was there to act as a shield for keeping her from "drowning" in her own darkness?

Let's not forget all of what Todd has been through and how much I wishes I could have for just one moment, gone inside the book and given him a hug.. Just a "hug" I promise.. *random coughing fit*..

I didn't know how A.M. Johnson would have carried out Todd's side of the story, and the way STILL WATER turned out? I literally felt chills near the end of the story. THAT'S how powerful this book was!

I don't sugar coat reviews so I can proudly say that if you pick up a copy of A.M. Johnson's books (Still Life + STILL WATER), you will wish you had a box of tissues, a couple tubs of ice cream and a shoulder to cry on.. preferably not a hot one since you might turn on the opposite side of PG rated "crying on said shoulder"..

It wasn't easy to read this story, not at all. That's not saying that it wasn't addictive or that the writing wasn't like second nature to breathing, because it was. I just felt that those darker aspects, in both the authors books but specifically STILL WATER, made me questions how my sanity is still intact consider how much, not I could relate but I just knew the feeling that those characters were going through.. On the other side though, their unconditional, truthful and sexy as bloody hell love for one another left me with a bigger heart and an ever larger grin. I couldn't get enough of their chemistry!!

Thank you A.M. Johnson for the ARC!!! Despite all the tears, the permanent heartache and a tainted soul, I couldn't have picked a more breathtaking story to get me through the day. Just beautiful!

“Come dance with me.” His breath was peppermint again, and, as he closed the distance behind us and trailed his hands down my arms, I realized I was strangling the dishrag. He moved his fingertips into the water and lightly back up my hands before removing the towel from my death grip. I exhaled, effectively breaking the spell I was under.

“Come on, Lily. I don’t bite.” I felt his torso move as he laughed. I was being stupid. Jace and Tiffany were totally in the moment and having fun. Why the hell not?

“Show me what you got,” I said as I turned to face him, becoming completely caged between his arms and making an extra effort to stand tall. I was so tiny compared to him. He had to be at least six feet tall. I was just barely five-foot-three. It was intimidating, but I refused to show it.

Todd’s pupils dilated, the close proximity was affecting him too. I gained confidence from that. “I thought we were dancing?” “Lead the way.” He smirked.
